Do you have an aspiring veterinarian walking around your home? This camp is a camper’s ticket to the world of Veterinary Medicine. Our experiments and projects will give young people the opportunity to investigate the real and exciting field of Veterinary Medicine.
• LEARN HOW TO PERFORM A PHYSICAL EXAM on a pet which is essential in evaluating an animals’ condition. Our activity guide includes an animal vital sign chart and a heartworm cycle diagram. Each camper includes a real stethoscope, a well–supplied first aid kit (10 items), along with an AVMA Pet First Aid brochure for those family pet emergencies.
• BATTLE AGAINST DISEASES that veterinarians face every day. Explore animal ear infections. Construct an origami microscope (The Foldscope) and discover how to collect specimens and prepare dry and wet mount slides. Hunt for yeast in your pet’s ear and observe the fungi under the microscope. Formulate a pet ear solution from our secret formulas!
• THE SUTURING WORKSHOP provides a basic understanding of suturing techniques. We include a needle driver (Hemostat), disposable scalpel –Handle with caution! tissue forceps (Pickups), and non–latex gloves. Start learning to suture on fruits such as oranges, bananas, and grapes. Take things to the next level as we go to the butcher shop for some chicken legs or pigs’ feet!
• DISSECTIONS: We will be dissecting all week long! Sheep hearts, crayfish, and Owl pellets! Includes a veterinary coloring book. **Please discuss the dissection aspect of this camp with your young vet!
• ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: Strawberry DNA extraction, Pet CPR with Casper the CPR dog, and drawing blood with our Life/form Canine IV leg. This will be an unbelievable experience for your child!
Each week, we invite a local Veterinarian, Vet Tech, or Breeder, or Groomer to be a guest speaker for our campers. However, these professionals are very busy, and alternate activities are planned in case they cannot get away from their office.
Camp Tuition includes the $40 Lab Fee due to extraordinarily high costs of supplies for these labs.

Forms & Resources
Sun Screen Waiver Form
With hot summer temperatures upon us, we’d like to remind you of the extra precautions we take to make sure our campers stay cool and well hydrated. Please take a look at our FAQ page to see our procedures for keeping the kids cool! If you would like us to apply sunscreen, please fill out the waiver form and hand it in to the Camp Director on Monday morning.
Summer Camp Planner
Club SciKidz realizes that families are very busy during the summer. With multiple camps and sometimes multiple kids, it can be a real challenge planning and then getting them to all of their summer activities.
How do we stay on top of it all without going crazy!? The easiest solution, we believe, is to send all of your kids to every single week of Club SciKidz Summer Camp. With 42 unique camps, we have something for all of your kids!
However, we know that is not always practical, and that your kids have other interests as well, such as art/sports/etc… So, we have created this simple Summer Camp Planner to help you organize your summers. All you have to do is print it out and put your child’s name up top and then fill-in the rest of their Summer Camp Schedules. This is a great tool to help organize & plan your summers and hopefully give you a little more time to have some time of your own!
Medical Form
The Welcome Packet mentions an ‘Administration of Medicine Form’. If your child requires any medications during the time he/she is at the camp, please download this form and print it, fill in the required information, and bring it with the child on the first day of camp.
Welcome Packet
Getting ready for camp should be an exciting process for your entire family. Many families attend multiple camps throughout the summer. For your convenience we have posted our Welcome Packet in the form of a parent newsletter on-line in PDF format. This document covers everything from Club SciKidz policies to camp dates and security issues.
