Training Our Future Scientists and Engineers For A Better Future!
For years educators have stressed that students learn better "by doing" - especially in the sciences. Students of all ages learn more science-content and skills when they engage in investigation and discovery using everyday materials and the basic equipment of science.
Our carefully designed inquiry-based lessons involve children with hands-on activities, capturing children's natural curiosity, stimulating their interest in science, and teaching them important science topics along with critical thinking skills.
2022-2023 Super Hero After School Program Descriptions
Our unique Science Club program is designed to meet the needs of children in grades K-6. Club SciKidz lessons help engage students in observation, measurement, identification of properties, and experimentation involving life, earth, and physical science concepts. The units are rigorously researched by science educators with the help of teachers and children. The results are lessons that students can enjoy and genuinely learn from. Science was never this much fun!
Each Science Enrichment Semester lasts for 12 - 14 weeks.
Classes meet once a week for approximately 60 minutes.
Fall 2022 After School Program
The Science of Ice Cream, Candy, & Soda:
Ever wonder why ice cream never gets really hard in the freezer or what puts the pop in soda?
It’s your chance to find out. We will be investigating the science behind a few
of our favorite snacks. Science never tasted so good!
Students will explore the science behind food coloring, find out what makes soda "fizz", perform experiments with their tongues, and more.
Spooky Science:
Many of the spooky things we see in movies are really just good science. Just in time for Halloween, we will make slime, play with scary sound effects, and discover how our bodies react when we are scared.
Students will complete projects in special effects, learn about bats, make a special kind of slime, and more.
Looking at Liquids:
Students investigate the properties of liquids beyond how they look, smell, and feel. They will understand concepts such as cohesion, adhesion, absorption, density, water pressure, and evaporation.
Students will examine the sizes and shapes of different drops of liquid, predict how soap will affect surface tension, explore density and buoyancy, and more.
Spring 2023 After School Program
It is Rocket Science!:
This exciting session will allow your little rocket scientist conduct many hands-on experiments concerning space. They can let their imagination soar into space as they learn about current space news.
Students will complete projects in making their own planetarium, experiment with "balloon propulsion", launch a rocket, and more.
Join us on our journey into space!
Going Green:
Everyone wants to take good care of our Earth. In Going Green we will learn how we can help and turn into a real environmental expert!
Students will identify bird species found around your home, discover the power of our sun to make sun prints, make their own paper, and more.
Creepy Crawlies!:
Not all bugs are pests! Your student will learn about beneficial bugs and how we can use them to control the bugs that we don't want in our gardens (or houses).
Making an ant farm, studying a praying mantis egg sac, and creating our own bug hunting kit are some of the ways we’ll explore the world of insects.
